Affiliate Disclosure

What This Means for You

Some links on Self Guided Walk are affiliate links. This means if you click a link and make a booking or purchase, we may receive a small commission — at no extra cost to you. The price you pay is exactly the same whether or not you use our links.

This disclosure is provided in accordance with the US Federal Trade Commission's guidelines on endorsements and testimonials (16 CFR Part 255) and equivalent regulations in other jurisdictions.

Which Programmes We Use

We participate in (or are applying to) the following affiliate programmes:

  • GetYourGuide Partner Network — for tours, activities, and experiences in destinations covered by our guides.
  • Viator Affiliate Programme — for tours and activities worldwide.
  • FareHarbor Affiliate Programme — for activity and experience bookings.

When we are accepted into a programme and add affiliate links to an article, we note it at the top of that article.

Our Editorial Independence

Affiliate relationships do not influence which tours, routes, or destinations we write about. We write about walking experiences we find genuinely useful for independent travellers. We only link to tours or services that we believe match what our readers are looking for.

We do not accept payment in exchange for positive coverage, and tour operators cannot pay to be featured in our guides.

How Affiliate Tracking Works

Affiliate links contain a tracking code that tells the booking platform you arrived via our site. The platform then records the booking and attributes a commission to us. This tracking typically uses a cookie stored in your browser for a set period (usually 30 days).

You can clear your browser cookies at any time. Doing so will remove any affiliate tracking — but the booking you made will still go through normally.
